Biography of Harold Jensen Falslev

Harold Jensen Falslev was born in Randers, Randers county, Denmark on November 29 1900. The fifth child of Marius and Mariane Jensen Falslev. Three of his siblings had already passed away as infants. Marius was wanting to join the Church Of Jesus Christ Of latter-day Saints. Mariane did not. Harold took seriously sick. Mariane feared for his life. Mariane told Marinus that the doctors did not help her other children, and she wanted to try the Mormon Elders. So they knelt down in prayer and gave their first uttered prayer. Marius went to find the Elders about three o-clock in the morning. He found Elder Christenson home (he was from Hyrum Utah). As soon as they administered to Harold, he opened his eye, looked up at them and smiled. This soften Mariane's heart. They rejoiced in the truthfulness of the gospel. Although they were happy Harold's life was preserved, they had a feeling they would not have him long. His family left Denmark on May 8, 1905 and got to Boston, Massachusetts on May 20, 1905. Arrived in Benson, Utah on May 25, five days later. At this time his older brother Marinus, little brother Oga and little sister Lydia came with his family.

His family was sealed in the Logan Temple on May 13, 1908. Rumor has it that Harold was sealed to a Danish girl when he died. This has not been proven.

In the Benson Ward records he was listed as Harel and Harald. Harold was baptized by Mark E Rogers on Oct 1 1908 and confirmed October 3, 1908 by W. W. Roundy. Ordained a deacon by Philip Purser and a teacher by Howard Reese. Bishop Reese was bishop from 1911 to 1921.

In the summer of 1917, Harold got sick with appendicitis. He went to the hospital for an operation. He seemed to be doing better then turned worse. He died on June 25, 1917. Marinus was in the Marines and came home for the funeral which was held in the Logan Tabernacle. Marinus was then sent overseas as the World War One was ongoing.

His sister Carrie remembers him as a kind and loving boy. The only time she remembers him crying was when he came home from working in the Sugar Beets one day. His feet were frozen. Carrie said he was too perfect to live on this earth.
